Often, we’re asked about the name,
YELLOW DOG Recruiting.
“Where did you come up with the name?”
The truth is there is a really funny story behind it. One day,
our Managing Partner, Scott, was working out of his home office. After many years of corporate recruitment, he was contemplating a run at starting his own recruitment firm.
Scott’s telephone number rang out of the blue. It was a Regional Vice President from a former company reaching out for some assistance.

Scott responded quickly, “I am always recruiting.”
“Well, what is your fee arrangement, and what is the name of your company?” asked the Regional VP.
Scott, caught off guard, took a quick look at his surroundings. He frantically scanned his surroundings
from ceiling to floor. There, sitting at his feet was his long time friend, Cody.
Cody was Scott’s tireless companion. Cody was Scott’s yellow Labrador retriever.

“Ahhh…YELLOW DOG Recruiting” Scott blurted out, as if he was questioning the name himself.
The Regional VP responded, “Great name. I’ll make a few calls and follow up with you.”
Excited by how things had unfolded, Scott immediately contacted a print shop and ordered business cards and letter head. Two days later, YELLOW DOG Recruiting was an established organization.
And so it began.
